As well as forming an important part of my career, IT has also been one of my main hobbies since my teenage years. I have a wealth of experience in different operating systems from DOS, VMS and RISC OS onto more modern ones such as Microsoft Windows, OS X and Linux. I currently operate a number operating systems utilising virtualisation software at home.

I also have experience in a wide range of applications from Microsoft Office, Project and Visio through to Apple applications and cross platform applications such as OpenOffice.

I am an avid reader and have a sizeable library. There is no one genre that I prefer and have a mixture from Science Fiction to Humour to Classics. Recent titles include A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin, What Would Google Do by Jeff Jarvis, Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb and The Gunslinger by Stephen King. I also enjoy reading non-fiction and have books on subjects including history, science, technology and natural history.

I have an esoteric music collection covering a wide range of styles and covering music both new and old. In addition to popular music I am also building my library of classical titles. I have a particular penchant for the music of Harry Chapin.

As with my music collection my DVD collection covers a range of styles and ages. It also includes feature films, documentaries and series, both comedy and drama. I am also a fan of a number of video podcasts and Internet TV programmes.

I am a keen gamer and my recent play list includes Fallout New Vegas, L.A. Noire and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood on the Xbox 360.

I have an active social life with my friends and family. I enjoy eating and drinking out and, as a member of CAMRA, visit several local beer festivals and for the past 3 years the Great British festival in London. I am also a keen cook who enjoys entertaining at home.

I am an avid watcher of sport, particularly football, cricket and rugby league. I also enjoy walking, especially around Derbyshire, Yorkshire and Scotland and am a keen digital photographer and my recent photos can be found here. I also have a more general website which can be found here.
